Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) is a term that describes eye related problems and

The most common symptoms of CVS includes:

| Causes: |

- The above problems are more noticeable with computer related tasks because letters on the screen are formed by tiny dots called pixels, rather than solid images. This causes the strain, as the eyes have struggle harder to keep the images in focus.
- Studies have shown that upto 30% of people working with computers either wear wrong spectacles or need glasses. Uncorrected vision power could be a predisposing factor for Computer Vision Syndrome.
- Excessive reflections of the monitor coupled with inadequate light setting make your eyes tired.
- As we stare at the computer screen, our blink rate decreases causing insufficient tear flow to the eye. This results in dry eyes and burning of the eyes.

- Blink frequently and naturally, it helps keep your eyes moist.

- Try to position your monitor 20-26 inches away.
- Keep the centre of the computer screen at your eye level or slightly below it.
- Position your desk lamp so that it does not shine on the computer screen or in your eyes.
- Adjust window blinds so that the sunlight is away from your screen and from your eyes.
